Field Engineer – Steam Turbine

Job description

GE Vernova is hiring a Field Engineer to perform on-site installation, preventive maintenance, repair, and calibration of steam turbine equipment at customer power plant sites across the U.S. This is a remote-based role with heavy field travel — the engineer is dispatched to customer sites rather than working from a fixed office.

Responsibilities

• Perform on-site installation, preventive maintenance, repair, and calibration of turbine systems and equipment
• Lead outage crews including craft labor, union technicians, and on-site services teams
• Respond to emergency repair and service requests for customer equipment
• Provide technical guidance to customer representatives on installation, operation, and maintenance
• Prepare technical reports, job status reports, time sheets, and expense reports
• Perform walk-downs during installation to verify contractor work quality
• Support aftermarket upgrades performed at the site level

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field with 3+ years of relevant experience in power plant maintenance, turbine maintenance, or equipment installation/commissioning — OR a High School Diploma with 7+ years of relevant experience
• Ability to travel up to 80% annually to project and field assignments
• Ability to obtain and maintain a valid passport
• Must complete required internal training programs
• Legal authorization to work in the United States

Preferred qualifications

• Experience with GE, Alstom, Siemens, or other OEM turbine equipment
• Extensive field engineering services experience
• Pipe fitting and tubing experience
• Strong project management and business acumen
• Willingness to travel to support customers outside the U.S.
